Dog Sports
Dog Sports: when is it important to practice sports with your dog?
The Cocca Dog Training Academy uses sports to help households understand the importance of maintaining the right balance between rules and fun for their four-legged friends. Practicing one or more dog sports disciplines together can help establish or consolidate the relationship between dog and owner, and the dog’s reaction to commands and control when off leash. At the end of each basic training programme, you can request a free assessment by our instructor, Jacopo, to help you identify the right discipline for you and your dog. Whatever discipline you choose, it will help you become a truly great team!!
Individual programmes and in-depth training sessions
Dog agility is based on the harmony between dog and handler: it’s not just a matter of speed, but of precision, in which the correct performance of exercises is subordinate to the harmony between human and animal.
No matter what your level, whether you practice once a week or want to compete, dog agility will strength your bond with your four-footed friend.
Why do it?
This activity helps all dogs develop physically and psychologically, and helps both dogs and people stay in shape! Jacopo looks forward to trying out some fun activities with both of you.
If you are a competitive pair, you might be able to join our fluorescent yellow team!
Individual programmes and in-depth training sessions
In this discipline, the handler stands in the specified area while the dog must learn to follow the route alone on the basis of the handler’s vocal “commands”. This requires a great degree of understanding between human and dog, which must be finely developed as the dog will not run round the course with its owner but face the hurdles alone.
Why do it?
The key feature of this sport is its ability to strengthen the relationship of trust between dog and handler. Speed and perfect harmony make this a very popular sport. In addition to a quality training programme, we offer a selection of sports to help dog owners realise that spending time with their pets can be enriching for both of them.
Individual programmes and in-depth training sessions
In the game of Treibball, the dog scores goals with balls set at different distances from the goal, where the handler stands. A time limit adds to the difficulty, normally set at 15 minutes. The dog works in close collaboration with the handler, who is located in a specially marked area and must use only whistles and verbal or hand signals to control the dog, with no verbal or physical correction.
Why do it?
A fantastic sport to enjoy with your four-legged friend, having lots of fun and establishing a strong bond as an indissoluble team.
Jacopo, our CSEN technician, looks forward to trying this wonderful sport with you; the initial assessment is free!
If you turn out to be a winning team, you can join our fluorescent yellow team and enjoy lots of fun adventures with your dog!
Obedience Rally
The Obedience Rally is a route with stations in which the dog is always accompanied by the handler, and needn’t run as in agility. At each station there is a sign indicating the “command” the dog must perform with its owner; the sport requires great complicity and trust between the two, which will be strengthened with practice.
